How to use this currency converter for pesos to dollars

Exchange-rate data comes from Financial Modeling Prep (FMP). The time beside each quote belongs to that quote, not the last page refresh. Rates may update at different times, especially outside a currency's active trading hours, so read the timestamp before relying on a figure.

How to convert pesos to dollars

MXN amount × MXN/USD rate = USD amount

US dollars = Mexican pesos × the MXN/USD rate. To convert dollars back to pesos, divide by that same rate. If you are given the USD/MXN rate instead, use its reciprocal. Enter pesos, not centavos: 1 peso and 50 centavos is entered as 1.50. Display rounding does not change the unrounded rate used for the calculation.

Illustrative example, not a current quote: if 1 Mexican peso equals 0.05 US dollars, 100 pesos equal 5 dollars and 10,000 pesos equal 500 dollars. In reverse, 5 dollars ÷ 0.05 equals 100 pesos. The fields above use the available FMP observation instead of this example rate.

Which peso exchange rates can I compare?

Compare Mexican pesos (MXN) with US dollars (USD), euros (EUR), British pounds (GBP), Japanese yen (JPY), Chinese yuan (CNY), Singapore dollars (SGD), Hong Kong dollars (HKD), Australian dollars (AUD), Canadian dollars (CAD) and Swiss francs (CHF). The page opens on MXN to USD; choose another card to change the target currency. Philippine, Colombian, Argentine and Chilean pesos are not supported.

Which peso? Check the code says MXN

This page starts with Mexican pesos, identified by the code MXN, and converts them to US dollars (USD). Several countries call their currency a peso: the Philippine peso is PHP, the Colombian peso is COP, the Argentine peso is ARS and the Chilean peso is CLP. Those are separate currencies with very different values, and this tool does not convert them. In Mexico a plain $ sign usually means pesos; a dollar price is usually marked USD or US$. Confirm the three-letter code on the amount you are converting before you use the result.

Mexico City time, including daylight saving

Quote timestamps use the US date format and America/Mexico_City time, which follows Central Standard Time or daylight saving for the date of the quote. Intraday history has no confirmed source timezone, so its times stay labelled provider time. Daily history keeps its original observation date. A page refresh does not make an older quote current.

Peso to dollar conversion questions

How much is 1 peso in US dollars today?

Choose MXN → USD and look at the reference rate at the top of the page: it shows how many US dollars one Mexican peso converts to, next to the time of the observation. Enter 1 in the pesos field to see the same figure as an amount. The rate moves throughout the day, so read the timestamp rather than treating the number as fixed.

How do I convert pesos to dollars with this currency converter?

Multiply the number of Mexican pesos by the MXN/USD rate shown above the converter. The converter does this for you: type the pesos in the first field and the dollars appear in the second. To work backwards from a dollar budget, edit the USD field and the pesos field updates with the same rate.

Is "peso" always the Mexican peso?

No. In US searches it usually means the Mexican peso (MXN), but the Philippine peso (PHP), Colombian peso (COP), Argentine peso (ARS) and Chilean peso (CLP) are different currencies worth very different amounts. This page converts MXN only. Check the code on your receipt, transfer or price before converting.

Why is the rate at my bank different from this converter?

This page shows a mid-market reference rate, the midpoint between buy and sell prices, with no fee added. Banks, exchange counters and transfer services usually quote a worse rate and may add a flat fee or a percentage spread on top. The amount you actually receive is the mid-market result minus that spread and any fee. Compare the final amount, not just the headline rate, and treat every figure here as information rather than a transaction quote or financial advice.

How often is the peso to dollar rate updated?

The page checks for a newer observation every 30 seconds while the tab is visible, but a check does not guarantee the market has published a new rate. Each figure carries the timestamp of the FMP observation it came from, shown in Mexico City time. Older or missing observations are labelled, and the rate a bank or transfer service offers can differ.
