A clear view of the rate
Exchange-rate data comes from Financial Modeling Prep (FMP). The time beside each quote belongs to that quote, not the last page refresh. Rates may update at different times, especially outside a currency’s active trading hours.
How to calculate currency conversion
Target amount = source amount × rate; reverse rate = 1 ÷ rate
Target amount = source amount × exchange rate. The rate is expressed as target currency per one source unit. To work backwards, divide by the same unrounded rate. The grey figures show the reverse unit rate, not a second conversion of your amount.
Illustrative example, not a current quote: if 1 EUR equals 1.20 USD, 100 EUR equals 120 USD and 10,000 EUR equals 12,000 USD. In reverse, 120 USD divided by 1.20 equals 100 EUR. Your inputs use the available FMP observation, not this example rate.
Which currencies can I convert?
The currency converter supports US dollars (USD), euros (EUR), British pounds (GBP), Japanese yen (JPY), Chinese yuan (CNY), Singapore dollars (SGD), Hong Kong dollars (HKD), Australian dollars (AUD), Canadian dollars (CAD) and Swiss francs (CHF). Choose any two different supported currencies. Availability of quotes and historical periods can vary by pair.
CNY is not CNH
CNY means onshore Chinese yuan. CNH is offshore yuan and can trade at a different rate. This first version uses CNY and does not silently replace it with CNH.
Quote times and historical dates
Quotes use UTC on this general converter. Intraday history retains provider time because the source timezone is not confirmed; daily observations retain their original date. Choose a base-currency page below for regional language and quote times.
Currency conversion questions
How do I convert one currency to another?
Choose the source and target currencies, then enter an amount in either field. The other field updates with the same reference rate. Use 100 or 10000 for a quick comparison. Check the currency codes and quote timestamp before using the result.
Why does the right chart axis run the other way?
The right axis shows the reciprocal: 1 divided by the left-axis value at the same height. As the forward rate rises, the reciprocal falls. The line represents one exchange rate, read in two directions.
Will I receive this rate at my bank?
Not necessarily. These are reference market observations, not executable offers. Banks and transfer services may apply a spread and fees. Compare their final amount and charges before exchanging money.
Are these guaranteed real-time exchange rates?
No. The visible page checks for updates every 30 seconds, but a new market observation is not guaranteed. Read the FMP quote timestamp, not just the page refresh time. Older or unavailable observations are labelled. These rates exclude bank or transfer fees and spreads.
